Outfit: November 6th – Old As The Hills

This sweater is as old as the hills. Well, OK, not quite. But it’s old – probably going on for ten years old and in closet terms, that’s practically ancient. (Side note: I just used the Thesaurus function on Word to check I’d spelt ‘ancient’ right. I had and it brought up a bunch of synonyms including antediluvian. Which is just fabulous!) Anyway, it washes well and is a good fit as it’s Long Tall Sally. I used to have the same sweater in red and pale blue too, but they were a size bigger so have long since departed my wardrobe as they no longer fitted me.

Let’s talk about these boots now, shall we? I got them in the summer when I was in London with my friend S. They are from Magnus Shoes, a shop specialising in larger sizes, which is located on Chiltern Street directly opposite Long Tall Sally. They had a sale on, I’d seen these on the website and knew I wanted to try them on and yeah, they came home with me. They are super padded in the sole so they are pretty comfortable (for someone who rarely wears heels these days comfort is now a must) and of course they fit great because they are a size 9. The best thing about them though? They stay up! And that can’t be said for all (or most) over the knee boots. I walked to work in them, which would usually be enough for slippage if there was going to be any, but I am pleased to report that they passed their first test. (Of course they may stretch out with wear and start to fall down, but so far, so good.) They kept my legs nice and warm on a cold and frosty morning and that’s all you want from a pair of boots really.

Outfit: November 3rd – Plaid on Plaid

My button down shirts tend to be the most neglected section of my wardrobe but I put this flannel one on for casual Friday and I have a re-found love for it. It’s old (like, really old) but it’s still so soft and cosy. I took it in at the back a couple of years ago to give it more shape (it was a bit boxy before) and I think the problem is that I forget that I did that and in my head it’s still boxy. Now I am excited to layer it under sweaters when the really chilly weather finally arrives. It may have been November 3rd but it was still mild enough out for me to wear just this thick cardi and big scarf to walk to work.

Oh, and I think I have solved my issues with wearing ripped jeans in the cooler weather. The answer appears to be over the knee boots! I always used to pack away my distressed denim for fear of cold knees, but wearing my OTK boots (which are basically like a granny blanket for your knees) seems to work pretty well!

Outfit: November 2nd – Navy Dress Files #3

Never let it be said that bloggers don’t re-wear their clothes. Some of us do! This is the second outing for this dress this week. It’s so easy to wear – the heavy fabric hangs nicely and is perfect for this time of year. This time I paired it with leopard print and red boots, as a nod to the seasonal trend for the colour. Over the years I have owned many items in bright red. When I was little my mum would insist I got things in bright red because it paired well with my dark hair. I think I’m currently down to a polo neck jumper, a dress and these boots but that gives me plenty of scope for mixing some bright red into my outfits in the coming months. I especially like to wear it on the run up to Christmas.

Outfit: November 1st – Cosy Sweater, Stripe Skirt

It’s turned chilly out this week and so I put on a cosy sweater and my striped skirt, dressed down with my beloved white pumps (none of that no-white-after-Labour-Day nonsense for me! Particularly as we don’t celebrate Labour Day in the UK!) for extra comfort. I’ve worn this combo (minus the black tights) with the grey version of this sweater in the past and loved it, so I tried out the burgundy version for autumn.

Outfit: October 31st – Navy Dress Files #2

For the second installment of ways to wear a navy dress, I paired it with an orange blazer for Halloween. And also ankle boots, because the previous day was freezing cold and I didn’t want my feet to be chilly.

Outfit: October 30th – Very Chilly Monday

This day marked the first frost of the season. It was chilly. Luckily for me, walking to work means that I can just acknowledge that my car windscreen is frosted up and then leave it to thaw out in the sun in its own time. Everyone else in the office was comparing notes on the best method of clearing a frosty windscreen.

Anyway, fleece lined tights and over knee boots were just right for this weather, and a cosy scarf (the same one as in my previous post) meant I didn’t need a proper coat as yet.

Outfit: October 27th – Pintrest Made Me Do It

This outfit was inspired by something I saw on Pintrest. A little digging (because ‘Pintrest’ is NOT a source) led me to this post on Stylish Petite where the image originated. I added a burgundy cardi rather than the bag because, you know, nesh. And it was distinctly cooler outside the morning I wore this than it had been of late.

Outfit: October 26th – The First Polo Neck

I wore my first polo neck of the season. It was a bit of a cheat though as this top is really just a glorified long sleeve t shirt. I still didn’t need an actual sweater as it was still THAT WARM outside. I have a feeling all that is about to change and by the time this post goes live I may be in full on cosy sweater, fire lit mode. There’s chilly air coming, and it’s coming from the north.
