Primark Jeans Review

I love me some denim and as I just got three new pairs of jeans I thought I’d do a bit of a review of them.

Now we all know that Primark is super cheap but how do their jeans stand up?

Skinny Jeans

At just £10 these jeans aren’t the cheapest that Primark have to offer (I believe they have some at £7 or £8) but these are certainly super stretchy and very comfortable to wear. They are well designed and are flattering on the bum, and they come in varying leg lengths – my pair are labelled as a 34” inside leg but as they wrinkle up at my ankle I would wager that they are actually longer than that.

Push Up, Push In Skinny Jeans

These jeans are a little more expensive, but at £13 they aren’t going to break the bank. I love the acid wash of my pair – not something I would otherwise have chosen I don’t think, but I loved how this style fits. The pockets are well placed on the back, there is clever seaming to give the impression that your bum is being lifted and shaped. For £13 you’re not going to get actual pull in denim or internal suck you in panels, but the denim has plenty of stretch and is very comfortable to wear, as well as looking great.

Boyfriend Slim Jeans

I bought my regular size in these jeans and they’re not exactly a boyfriend style on me, but I guess sizing up would give them a more relaxed look if that’s what you’re after. I love that the distressing on these isn’t actually on the knee (although I suspect it’s supposed to be a lot nearer the knee than is on me as my legs are so long). The denim in these is more rigid than the other two pairs, but they are still 1% elastane so there’s some stretch to them.

Outfit: Jeans and Trainers

I have never had a pair of really girly trainers. Women’s trainer styles always seem to stop at a size 7 which is too small for my feet so I am always stuck with trying to pick out the daintiest looking pair from the men’s range. A huge thank you goes out to the lovely people at George (Asda) for deciding to make some girly trainers up to a size 9! I chose the turquoise pair but at only £12 each you could also get the blue pair and the bright purple with hot pink trim pair too.

Yes I’m wearing the same top as in my last outfit post. What can I say? I love it and the turquoise on the print matches my new trainers exactly. The jeans are another of my birthday pairs from Primark. These are supposed to be a slim boyfriend fit, but my regular size on me seems to fit more like skinnies. I could have sized up I suppose, but I was happy with these. What I like about them is that there is no distressing on the knees. I have found from previous experience that holes in the knees tend to rip further if you do not patch them, and well, patching every new pair of jeans is just a faff so these ones are perfect.

This was Friday’s outfit and I was exceptionally pleased with my hair that day. I curled it the night before, right before bed, sprayed it with gel hairspray and just left it. In the morning I finger combed it out and spritzed it with ordinary hairspray. I don’t like to spend a lot of time faffing with my hair on weekday mornings so will often straighten it the night before so that it just needs a brush and a tidy up in the mornings. I’ve been trying out daily contact lenses this week (they finally started making toric lenses (for an astigmatism) in my super high prescription – yay!) and they are so flimsy that they take me a while to get in. So anything I can do to cut down the rest of my morning routine is definitely a bonus. I’m sticking with the daily lenses though, it’s great just binning them at the end of the day rather than messing about with solution, and cleaning and storage pots.

How To Make Courghetti (Courgette/Zucchini Spaghetti) Without A Spiralizer

If you’re on any kind of weight loss programme, or you read a healthy food blog or watch recipe videos on You Tube, chances are you will have heard about courghetti – ‘pasta’ or ‘noodles’ made out of strips of courgette. Most recipes (or You Tube chefs) will tell you that you need a spiralizer to make these (a nifty gadget that will turn your vegetables into long spirals that resemble spaghetti, hence the name ‘courghetti’), but you really don’t. I picked up this handy peeler on Amazon for just £1.59. It has 6 blades including a Julienne one, which will give you strips of courgette (or any other vegetable) for way cheaper than a spiralizer. It also has a blade that will make your vegetable slices crinkly. Crinkle cut crisps anyone?

Outfit: Birthday Girl

Tuesday was my actual birthday (yay!) and also the day I returned to work after my week and a bit off (boo). But it wasn’t so bad, the sun was shining and I had new jeans and a new top to wear. This is one of the Primark pairs that my lovely little sister got me for my birthday. They are labelled as Push Up skinnies and certainly the pocket placement and clever seaming on the back (which I tried and failed to photograph) do help to make your bum look better.

The top I treated myself to with some of my birthday money but as it was £3.99 on the M&S sale rail it was hardly a splurge. It’s actually from the kids’ range and is an Age 13-14 size, but seems to be the equivalent of about a size 10 in women’s sizes. So there’s a top tip for you…and there’s no tax on children’s clothes.

We have this week off work and have been day tripping all over the place. Today was a drive through North Yorkshire, stopping off at various places. Today’s outfit is typical of the week, just jeans, a long sleeve top and some flat shoes. Oh, and sunglasses: spring seems to have finally arrived in the Frozen North!

Outfit: Quadruple Pattern Mixing

went all out with the pattern mixing for the Thursday before Easter. I usually try to avoid putting stripes with my polka dot jeans but then I thought, why? They’re just jeans. And I’d wear stripes with any other pair of jeans. So between that, and the leopard print, and my scarf, there’s a lot going on in this outfit.

Happy Easter everyone!
