Long Tall Sally Burgundy Flats

So the last day of September is upon us. I really don’t know where this month has gone. It’s still fairly mild out but I decided to put on a pair of thicker tights today because I really like textured tights. This pair is from New Look and I got them in York on Friday. They are supposed to fit up to a height of 6’1” but I’m 5’11” and they are just about long enough for me, so good luck if you actually are 6’1”!

I put my burgundy dress with navy accessories today, and I think the next pairing will be grey. After that I will start putting polo necks underneath it for a different look.

I’ve decided I will switch out my seasonal clothes this week. It’ll be October tomorrow and I’m excited to wear my knitted dresses and other goodies that are stashed away.

Saturday morning we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast at the hotel and then headed off to Whitby. It was lovely and sunny so we took some outfit pictures on the West Cliff, then had a game of crazy golf when we passed by the course.

We had a wander round the charity shops (and I scored a Long Tall Sally dress in one of them – that NEVER happens) and walked up all the steps to the Abbey.

Friday morning I headed off to meet my little sister as we were going for a day out to York. I picked her up and we started off with breakfast at Frankie and Benny’s on the outskirts of the city before catching the Park and Ride bus into the city centre. We had a lovely day wandering around the shops, taking a late lunch in Bettys Tea Rooms and just generally enjoying a day out in the sunshine.

That night we were booked to stay at a Premier Inn on the ring road so we headed back there about 6pm and spent the evening watching The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert using the hotel’s patchy wi-fi.

I can’t believe it has taken me until Save 22 to wear these boots as they are pretty much my favourite pair. They are by Georgia Rose (I have a lot of her/their shoes as they are one of the few brands that make a size 43) and I got them with one of my Sarenza Ambassador vouchers last summer. They had their first outing when we went to the Isle of Man last year, and were hardly off my feet all of last autumn, winter and spring.

Thursday Latelies

Here’s what I’ve been enjoying this week!

  • A four day week – because they’re infinitely better than a five day week!
  • Chocomilk – turns out the hot chocolate in the work-kitchen drinks machine is actually quite nice
  • Jelly and custard – Morrison’s do pots of jelly topped with a layer of sponge and a layer of custard. They’re like trifle without the cream.

Why not leave a comment and tell me what you’ve been enjoying?

LK Bennett Zahara black

A big shout out goes to Allie of Wardrobe Oxygen for this outfit. I will be packing these jeans away until next spring fairly soon, but I wanted to get at least another wear out of them before I did. When Allie’s post popped up on Tuesday night I knew I was on to a winner. I have another outfit planned for next week using the beige colourway. I might even try the grey one too.

LK Bennett leopard peep toes

Each month, on payday, one of the lads in my department goes scouring the charity shops on the high street local to work for candles for his wife at lunchtime. A group of about 4 of us go with him (we walk up the high street or to the local supermarket several lunchtimes a week) and it’s become known as the candle run. I tend to look for accessories rather than candles and this belt was picked up on the candle run a couple of months ago. It cost all of £1.45 but I’ve yet to wear it as it was too warm for a plastic backed waist belt in most of July and August. Today it makes its debut though and I can see it getting lots of wear over the coming months because leopard print goes with everything.

Continuing the ‘leopard print goes with everything’ theme, I saved one of my pairs of leopard print shoes today. I have three pairs (four if you count my shoe boots) and decided to save the suede peep toes whilst it is still warm and dry enough to do so. These are by LK Bennett and were bought on eBay having been worn just once by their previous owner.

24-09-13e

I have a four day week this week as I’m off on Friday, so it’s quite nice that half the working week is now over. Just as well really – it was properly still dark when I got up this morning and I’m so not ready for winter and its dark mornings just yet.

24-09-13

Last night I did half an hour on the treadmill at the gym, then half an hour’s Core workout. One of the personal trainers was taking the session and it was quite tough. I’m sure it did me good though.

24-09-13d

The weather forecast was for warm sunshine this week but as that didn’t materialise yesterday I didn’t trust it to do so today either so went for black tights and a long sleeve dress. And I saved another pair of shoes. These weren’t on my list so I don’t know whether I intended throwing them out or what, but they’re OK for now so I’ve added them to the challenge. They were a birthday present from my friend E a few years back and I think they were from Dunnes Stores. They are fabric so I always need a dry day to wear them (they got drowned in a torrential rainstorm a couple of years ago but seem to have recovered alright).

Teal dress – F+F at Tesco (charity shop, shortened)
Purple top – Next Tall (eBay)
Black tights – Silkies (?)
Purple flats – gifted
Purple flower necklace – Dorothy Perkins
Purple bangle – gifted
Silver hoops – gifted

LK Bennett Zahara black

How was your weekend? Mine was super busy. Friday night I cleaned the bathroom, did the supermarket shopping and made some chocolate krispies. Saturday we had some of the young man’s family coming over for a buffet tea so I spent most of the day baking (scones and apple cake) and cleaning. We had a lovely late afternoon/evening with everyone.

23-09-13b

Sunday I was on junior church duty and we just watched a video (about Joshua and the walls of Jericho) as I’d not had time to plan anything. In the afternoon we had a walk for a couple of hours, then headed across the city to meet my sister, brother in law and niece for a Chinese buffet.

23-09-13

Sunshine and warm weather put in a re-appearance over the weekend meaning I needed to dig out my sunglasses. Since getting my contact lenses I am always on the lookout for great value sunglasses of the sun variety as I find my eyes are really sensitive to sunlight these days. Alternatively I could just wear my glasses more often.  These Hugo Boss eyeglasses are quite different to my current glasses so perhaps I could change up my look with them.

23-09-13c

Today’s outfit is a new colour combination for me but I really like it and it’s nice to pull out these burgundy pants again. I’ve not worn them all summer as they’re such a dark colour.

23-09-13d

And there’s a shoe save too: a pair of super comfy low wedges by LK Bennett, c/o Sarenza. I have a similar pair in navy and picked out this pair on the strength of the comfort of the navy ones.

Red sweater – Long Tall Sally (with 10% discount)
White shirt – Long Tall Sally
Burgundy jeggings – Dorothy Perkins Tall
Black patent wedges – LK Bennett (c/o Sarenza)
