Steve Madden Candence cognac

I shouldn’t need to wear boots in June, but it was another lovely summer’s day today. By which I of course mean that it was raining! So boots seemed like a good option to keep my feet dry. I layered a couple of long sleeve tops in bright colours and added a knitted scarf (which I also shouldn’t have to do in June but my office is FREEZING and it wasn’t really that warm outside) and called it casual Friday.

Georgia Rose brown suede flats

I’ve been really in the mood for trousers lately, and today was no exception. This outfit was thrown together late last night and I added the tank this morning when I remembered that this sweater is really a bit too low cut for work.

Last night was the drama group AGM and although we didn’t really have that much to discuss the meeting seemed to drag on. It was gone 10.30pm by the time I got home, hence the throwing together of today’s outfit. Fingers crossed for more creativity tomorrow!

LTS navy dot flats

As I’ve worn the purple jeans this week already, it was only fair to give the red ones an outing today. It also meant I could wear my lovely navy biker again as well. I went with flat shoes for a change, and added a navy scarf when I left the house this morning as it was a little chilly out.

Last night I went to step class and aqua aerobics at the gym. Our regular trainer is away so we had the fill in chap and the step class was as complicated as anything. He did play better music though. And it was the same chap taking the aqua class so the music in there was some kind of 60s greatest hits compilation which I really enjoyed.

White and red stripe top – H&M
Red jeans – New Look Tall (eBay)
Navy jacket – Warehouse (sale)
Navy and white spot flats – Long Tall Sally (birthday present)

Heels Republic

Heels Republic describes itself as ‘The world’s sexiest site for heels’ and taking a look at the selection of shoes and boots on offer that is certainly true. The heels are high and the shoes are sexy. I was particularly taken with this black and tan pair.

If you are looking for a new pair of sandals for the summer, take a look at the range of women’s sandals here. They’re not all high either – these Roman sandals are flat and look at the cute little bow details!

With the British summer being what it is, perhaps you are in market for some boots. This flat black pair looks good to me.

Heels Republic offers free global shipping and you can track your order online. You are able to display prices in British Pounds, US Dollars, Euros or Australian Dollars so no complicated currency conversion is necessary, and they accept Paypal which I always find highly convenient. I was disappointed to note that nothing on the site is available in a larger size than a UK 7 but they do have sections built in to the site for larger sizes and it is a relatively new company so perhaps the larger sizes will come in due course. In the meantime, if you wear size 7 or smaller check out Heels Republic.

Check out my new post footer! I just learned how to put that in today, thanks to a tutorial from Freckles in April. Now you have no excuse not to follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram! And remember that Google Reader is being discontinued imminently (the end of this month I think) so I added my Bloglovin’ link in too, just in case you need that.

Speaking of Instagram, did you see that they now support video? 15 seconds to express yourself in motion. I am thinking I will start to post mini-vlogs on it. Is that something you would want to see? (I just don’t have the time to commit to proper You Tube vlogging with all the editing and things that would have to go with it).

Last night I went to the gym and watched part of Andy Murray’s match against Benjamin Becker whilst I was on the treadmill. (Becker is not related to his namesake Boris apparently, but he does look a lot like Nicholas Cage.) Then I went to the abs class.

I feel like today’s outfit is quite menswear inspired. The trousers, the shirt, the v neck sweater. But pink shoes make it girly. I liked yesterday’s ponytail (despite it only being for the purpose of hiding hair that still smelled slightly of barbeque and for going to the gym). It was described as ‘Pebbles Flintstone’ and also looking more glamorous than usual (I know, right, I look glamorous every day!) was I going out after work? Though that could have been the purple eye makeup I was also sporting. Anyway, as today is also a gym day I decided to repeat the ponytail.

Grey sweater – New Look Tall (eBay)
Black and white stripe shirt – Next (half price in sale)
Grey trousers – Gap (charity shop)
Pink shoes – Nine West (Debenhams sale)

Esprit Diana silver heels

Yesterday we went up to Dalby Forest in North Yorkshire to meet some friends. They were running a day out/barbeque for their son’s football team and had invited us to join them. It was a lovely summer’s day – warm sunshine punctuated by torrential down pours every half hour or so. OK, so it was a typical summer’s day if not lovely... We had a good time and there was plenty of food and lots of cups of tea to keep us warm during the rain showers. Afterwards we went back to our friends’ house for tea. They live near Filey so we didn’t stay too late as we had to drive all the way home.

Today’s outfit was my awesome purple jeans which are not really jeans as they’re not thick enough. They’re really just cotton trousers with jeans-style pockets. Totally work appropriate. I put a sweater (and my scarf) on as I’m sick of being cold in the stupid air conditioning, and it wasn’t forecast to be that warm today anyway. It’s only June after all.

The silver shoes are my other new pair that I mentioned last week. They are by Esprit and replace the silver pair I ruined by falling down the steps outside my house just before Christmas, when it was really icy. They came c/o Sarenza with my voucher this month and you can buy them here.

Georgia Rose tan boots

This is what I wore on Saturday evening. I spent the day in distressed denim and a stripy top, just pottering about the house. I did some baking (pumpkin brownies and chocolate truffle) and some cleaning, and I watched a TV movie on Demand 5 called the Mystery of Natalie Wood. I am fascinated by Natalie Wood and the mysterious circumstances surrounding her death. This is more a docu-movie as it is basically the story of her life dramatised, interspersed with people that knew her talking on camera about her and various events that happened. She died in 1981 so I don’t remember it and I didn’t really know who she was until the inquest into her death was reopened a few years ago, and then I realised she was the girl out of West Side Story.

Saturday evening we went out for fish and chips (again, I know. We didn’t plan it that way, it just happened) with most of the young man’s family. We had a really good time and I got chance to chat with his two first cousins once removed. I think. I’m trying to get my head around second cousins, and degrees of removed-ness. Wikipedia explains it quite well. After the meal we went back to the young man’s aunty’s house for a while.

I wore leggings with my dress because it is too short to wear bare-legged, and I wore boots because it kept raining.

Sancho Elvis Femme cowboy boots

So remember how I said earlier that I don’t like to pay full price for things? Well I tried on these jeans in the LTS store back in April when I was in York with my sister for my birthday. I liked them, but wasn’t entirely sure I needed polka dot jeans. I especially didn’t need to pay £50 so I left them. This pair then popped up on eBay and I watched them and bid on them and got them for the bargain price of £2.70! They are a size smaller than I would usually wear but I took a punt and they fit me fine. Awesome!

Thursday night we went out with a group that the young man is part of for a walk (in the rain) and a Frisbee throwing competition (in the rain). This was followed by a meal at a local fish and chip restaurant. I’ve not had fish and chips for ages so thoroughly enjoyed my meal.

LK Bennett Maddox coral

I saw this jacket in the Warehouse concession in Debenhams a couple of months back and tried it on in my regular size. It was tight. I knew that if I was going to get it I would need to size up. I also knew that I didn’t want to pay full price for it. I hate paying full price for things unless they are cheap. I continued to stalk the jacket online for a while watching it go in and out of stock in the size I needed, checked eBay every so often, just in case, and signed up to the Warehouse emails. That final action was the one that paid off in the end as I received a notification that the sale had started. I checked the jackets section and there was my jacket, 30% off. Yay!

Wednesday night we had a barbeque at tea time as it was lovely and warm and sunny. It was a good thing we made the most of the good weather as by yesterday it was raining. I had a hair appointment after work so of course it was raining. I have magic powers: I book a hair appointment or put washing on the line and I will make it rain.
